Steve and Robin Rains
I have been involved in ministry since 1991. I married my incredible wife back in 1992 and have enjoyed the journey we have been on together. The Lord blessed us with two incredible sons, both of whom have brought joy in each season of life.
In late 2013 we sensed the Lord stirring a change of direction for our future. Midway through 2014 we were connected to LifePoint as they were walking through a transition. We moved to Valley Center in August of that year.
Family is really important to us, and is important in the life of our church. We truly believe that each generation brings value and significance to the vision of our church. We believe in being a church that doesn’t just stay within the four walls of our facility, but is actively a part of our community – serving, loving, and coming alongside.
I love spending time with my wife, and our kids. There is nothing like family time! As well, enjoying the outdoors or going to the gym provide some good therapy for me!
My wife, Amy, and I have been married since 2010. We both are from the Wichita area. I grew up in this church and it is an incredible honor to serve at the same church, where I decided to follow Jesus and was taught to live each day for Him. I came on staff in 2010 after volunteering under the previous children’s pastor for 18 months and was a youth and children’s pastor preceding.
Amy and I love to spend our free time together, with our five wonderful boys or visiting family and friends. I am a coffee snob and was the first non-manager certified Starbucks Coffee Master in Wichita. I love to read and am involved in the area elementary schools, where I am known as “the magic man.”
I began working here in May of 2016 as the secretary and later became the bookkeeper. I also help maintain the church website and design the church graphics. I love being involved in so many areas of LifePoint. This church is my family, and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else!
As time moved forward, I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Education from Wichita State University. I taught two years in Ellsworth-Kanopolis, ten years in Valley Center, and eighteen years in Derby. When I taught in Valley Center in the 80s, I met a wonderful teacher who attend the VC Assembly of God. We became great friends and she spoke the Word of God to me often. It was her love of God and faithfulness that inspired me to attend what now is LifePoint Church. I have been involved with LifePoint Church for over 17 years, 10 years of this time has been spent as the custodian of this wonderful church. I am so thankful and blessed that God open the door to serve here and in Valley Center.
