Steve and Robin Rains

Lead Pastor

I have been involved in ministry since 1991. I married my incredible wife back in 1992 and have enjoyed the journey we have been on together. The Lord blessed us with two incredible sons, both of whom have brought joy in each season of life.

In late 2013 we sensed the Lord stirring a change of direction for our future. Midway through 2014 we were connected to LifePoint as they were walking through a transition. We moved to Valley Center in August of that year.

Family is really important to us, and is important in the life of our church. We truly believe that each generation brings value and significance to the vision of our church. We believe in being a church that doesn’t just stay within the four walls of our facility, but is actively a part of our community – serving, loving, and coming alongside.

I love spending time with my wife, and our kids. There is nothing like family time! As well, enjoying the outdoors or going to the gym provide some good therapy for me!

Our Pastors

Youth and Spiritual Formations Pastor

Levi Massey

I started my journey into vocational ministry 10 years ago when I actually left LifePoint Church as an 18-year-old kid and joined up as a U.S. Missionary Associate under the covering of Kansas Youth Alive. Since those early days of working with students and youth pastors all over the state with KSYA, I have not been able to imagine doing anything in life outside of ministry. I have been blessed to serve in a few different capacities in ministry before landing back home at LifePoint, but my focus has always been the same: to raise up life-long followers of Christ.

Being back at LifePoint as the Youth and Spiritual Formations Pastor is an honor and a dream come true. Our family moved to Valley Center in 2018, and we had no idea we would be serving just a few blocks away from our new home a couple years later. That said, we believe God knew what He was doing, and He orchestrated our steps perfectly. When it comes to our ministry strategy with students, we realize we are watching a generation of students grow up in a largely biblically-illiterate, post-church, and internet-addicted culture. We want LifePoint Students to be a safe haven for these students to find rest, regeneration, and Truth. It is our top priority for students to experience the community that Jesus established in the Church, which hinges on faithfulness to the commands and commissions given to us by Christ and a sincere compassion for one another. Everything else builds on those two values: faithfulness and compassion.

When we aren’t too busy hanging out with our three awesome kids, Tia and I love to paint, go on walks, and drink lots of coffee together. Tia is a math and reading interventionist at the Valley Center Intermediate School and has inherited my hometown as her own: pouring into the lives of students and teachers everyday and sharing the love of Christ through her hard-work and dedication to our school district.

Children's Pastor

Nathanial Thurman

Creating a space where children feel welcomed, cared for and safe is my top priority! It is such an honor to be someone who helps children know that Jesus is their very best friend, God loves them and has a plan for their life, and the Holy Spirit gives them power. Children, from a young age, can start to develop their spiritual understanding of who they are in Christ. It is a blessing to be able to minister to your children each week with our incredible Lifepoint Kids team!
My wife, Amy, and I have been married since 2010. We both are from the Wichita area. I grew up in this church and it is an incredible honor to serve at the same church, where I decided to follow Jesus and was taught to live each day for Him. I came on staff in 2010 after volunteering under the previous children’s pastor for 18 months and was a youth and children’s pastor preceding.
Amy and I love to spend our free time together, with our five wonderful boys or visiting family and friends. I am a coffee snob and was the first non-manager certified Starbucks Coffee Master in Wichita. I love to read and am involved in the area elementary schools, where I am known as “the magic man.”

Church Staff

Secretary & Bookkeeper

Sara Campbell

I grew up in eastern Kansas and graduated high school in Lawrence, KS. I attended Bethany College where I met my husband, Chris. We have been married since 2010 and have two boys. We began attending LifePoint Church in 2014 when Pastor Steve started here. I had known Pastor Steve and Robin from their days of pastoring in Goodland, KS where my parents lived. When I found out they were moving to Valley Center, I brought my family to LifePoint to see if it would be a good fit. From that first visit, I knew this church would be the one for us. It felt like home. We felt welcomed and loved by everyone we met. We have been attending here ever since. I have become involved in Women's ministry, Children's Ministry, and the First Touch team.

I began working here in May of 2016 as the secretary and later became the bookkeeper. I also help maintain the church website and design some of the church graphics. I love being involved in so many areas of LifePoint. This church is my family, and I couldn’t imagine being anywhere else!

Jim Spencer

I grew up in Valley Center and lived here most of my life in this wonderful community. I had very faithful, loving parents who believed we should attend church every Sunday and serve the Lord daily. When I turned 17 years old, I had an opportunity to attend an Immanuel Baptist Church Revival with two high school friends. I was so overwhelmed by the Teaching of God’s Word, I decided to go forward for the altar call. From that day forward, I knew God had a plan for me to serve Him. I knew he loved me for who I was.

As time moved forward, I received my Bachelor’s and Master’s in Education from Wichita State University. I taught two years in Ellsworth-Kanopolis, ten years in Valley Center, and eighteen years in Derby. When I taught in Valley Center in the 80s, I met a wonderful teacher who attend the VC Assembly of God. We became great friends and she spoke the Word of God to me often. It was her love of God and faithfulness that inspired me to attend what now is LifePoint Church. I have been involved with LifePoint Church for over 17 years, 10 years of this time has been spent as the custodian of this wonderful church. I am so thankful and blessed that God open the door to serve here and in Valley Center.
